What is this?

Hello folks im new on iboats
Yesterday i changed my impeller and i see tons of rusty flakes all around the waterhouse but why? Where do it comes from?

What engine is this ? If it’s the presumed mercury outboard, it’s likely that the insert in the mid section exhaust area has corroded to bits and that’s what you are seeing. Have a look up in there I’d say.

It is eroded aluminum a Qboy described. Must be a old saltwater or brackish motor

It's unusual for aluminum "flake" like.
Easy check....if it's not magnetic it's aluminum.
If it's magnetic it's iron
