Was trying to get the electic choke working and saw this. I dont know what it does. 1982 35hp evinrude

That item is a safety switch.-----Design intent is to prevent starter from working when motor is in gear.

I don't know if it works or not, i don't know anything about it. I am trying to get my electric choke to work. The plunger isn't going all the way in, or the connectors are not linked right. I need to a see a diagram of it

That part has nothing to do with operation of the electric choke !---Only one wire goes to the switch.-----If switch does not work it can be cleaned internally.----I have done that task more than once.
