Does it come w/ a prize:

It looks like the mounting cup from a 'vintage' fish finder :D Found here

I suspect it is covering a hole of some sort, likely to pass the cable thru. Remove & repair the hole ;)

Re: What is this?

They look like very weathered old time hole covers to me, and I'm wondering just how big of a hole they cover?

It kind of looks like that, but there's no way that suction cup would stay on that boat for that long. I've used suction cup mount transducers before and they'll come off at the drop of a hat... plus the mount is below the waterline.

Regardless, that's clearly what it is. You can make out the wesbar stamping lettering here.

My bet is somebody was frustrated and glued that sucker on. Looks like it solved the problem.

JB.. no prize except my admiration for the knowledge on this page. Anyway my buddy and I are sitting in a couple of chairs having a couple of recreational beveridges and he asked what it was. I said I have no idea but it is ugly and i want to take it off. Screw just comes out but the "thing" is still on. I grab my ripper bar and just as I am ready to assault the "thing" he says what if it covering a great big hole and the screw is to drain out water from the boat. Needless to say I put my ripper bar down , picked up beveridge and asked you guys. Thanks guys

Re: What is this?

Jig, there was nothing behind it... no hole. it was glued with industrial carpet glue, according to neighbor. Said that was only thing that could glue a foam to metal in the day.. it was tough.. medium strenth wire wheel cleaned it up. Chconger and JB were correct.. Thanks guys
