Frank,<br />I have another "unique idea" that you might like. <br />Why not connect a shower head with flexable stainless hose. You can fix the wall fitting to the engine cover and aim the jets any way you want, especially at the boat moored next to you. On really cold days you can stand on the back deck and have a nice warm shower and impress all your friends

Sorry Frank,<br />I laughed so hard at your last two posts that I cried. I have this mental image of a crazy Ausi going 40 mph with a beer in one hand and a very proud grin on his face looking backwards at the 20 ft rooster tails coming from the motor. <br />I think you should stop stressing yourself about the motor and watch where you are going

As much as it dismays me to admit it, ,your vision is probably not that far off the mark.<br /><br />I tend to watch the motor because I have had problems I didn't catch back in my past and it made me like this..<br /><br />the water that squirts out of a car window washer hardly qualifies as a rooster tail.. since its actually less then half the size of a real telltail hole.. it wouldn't be that noticable unless you were looking for it..<br /><br />But I can see where you got the image from..<br /><br />I am expecting delivery of a dashboard full of guages pretty soon, and if water pressure is one of them, then I guess I'm adding a pressure guage..<br /><br />I just always used to love telltails, and I thought back then that all outboards have them,, I have now owned six outboards and not one of them has had one.. (my suzuki might have, can't remember) so I was toying with adding one, and it wouldn't be hard to do I think....<br /><br /><br />rgds<br /><br />Frank

didn't early 80 models have a peehole AND thru upper exaust exit for water? Why couldnt you find a schematic of one of those engines and do it yourself? Just a 2cent thought.

I'm having the same problem that Rob had but the bad thing about my engine is that I have not replaced the impeller yet. Here is the bad part of that, I have never changed one before! Any advise on how to replace one, this is from someone that has worked on cars before but never outboards! <br /><br />I take it that the impeller is in the lower unit? What all do you have to remove to replace the impeller?<br /><br />Thanks in advance for any help on this!!

I changed an impellor improperly once upon a time. As if at the time I thought it could be done. Old age and wisdom can be a wonderful thing. It was on an i/o so I don't know if it's the same on a o/b.<br />Thanks to the guys at the marina that enlightened me on my ignorence that I needed to leave the prop on during reassembly and turn the prop clockwise{forward} to set the impellor fins in the proper direction. Needless to say it got hotter than a popcorn fart in about 5 min. I have to say I know this boat better than my wife. The really unique thing is that there wasn't anything wrong with the old impellor. Just stressing about it so I had to "fix it".<br />I'm with the MexicanCanadian and take a warm shower next to the guy with the showerhead in his peehole.
