A couple of relief holes in the side of the lower unit above the anti-vent plate will help with power, BUT: It will make a LOT more noise and here in the US, in most states, it is illegal to install "cut-outs" on non racing boats--ie pleasurecraft registered for recreational use.

AHHH! Jump all over that prop. And if you decide you don't want it or it doesn't work for you, sell it to me.

I have had a 2 blade very similar to that one on my Chrysler. Assuming you have a 15 spline one piece lower unit, you will still need to use the prop thrust washer and will need a spacer or two at the nut end of the shaft.

Look at the photo to see prop mounting and exhaust relief holes (4 on each side)

well i dont think there is that law in canada, and the cops are never on my lake except for the rare time on long weekends. and i know guy who run open exhaust on their mercs on tunnel hulls and things like that on a lake that is only 6 miles long lol. so i will drill the holes, and it is a 1 piece lower unit, off of an 85 hp, with the low water pick up on it, how far should i put my motor on the boat, like how many inches should my prop shaft be form the bottom of the boat? factory height or up it a bit so my cavitation plate is an inch or so above the bottom of the boat? thanks

p.s nice paint job on the chrysler ;)

Well, the real test is how the engine performs at what height. If your Chrysler has transom clamps rather than through bolts on top, for test purposes only just use the clamps for a couple of short runs. If it is a deep vee hull, start with the anti-vent plate about 1 inch above the vee. If it has a riding pad or flat bottom start even with the bottom.

Raise it in increments smaller than 1 inch because sometimes 1/4 inch makes the difference between a solid hook-up and ventilation/cavitation. You want it right on the edge so that if you try a hole shot with full up trim it will cavitate but with full down trim it will lock-up and accelerate smartly. My engine in the avatar will cavitate at full out trim on the hole shot. Once I get it locked up with down trim, I can then use full up trim with no problems.

You need to experiment---all hulls behave differently. The big hull in the photo with the bronze prop can not use much more than 1/3 out trim or it will ventilate -- and that's with the cav plate even with the riding plate in the bottom.
