What is it?

So ... I'm winterizing my 2001 Chris Craft Constellation 26 (new to me in 2023) and inspecting all the systems and plumbing to see what I might have missed. I find this 'black box' next to my Cruisair Heat/AC (heat pump) unit tucked away behind a hatch cover in my aft berth. There are no wires or connectors (electrical or mechanical) going to this thing. 12225587894?profile=RESIZE_710x

There are a couple impressive looking electrical recepticals on it but no matching plugs in the vicinity. Looks like a pneumatic line / stub on the top left that goes nowhere.

The only writing on the box is a maximum torque spec and a part number that even Google can't find.

I'm stumped.

Looks to be a gauge controller used in Malibu boats. Aint cheap....
Winner, winner chicken dinner - I think that's it. Thank you.

Now for the interesting part - my boat doesn't have any electronic / Malibu gauges! Just the original Chris Craft electro-mechanicals. I guess somebody thought it might be a good idea until it wasn't!

I'll call Malibu on Monday to see what this thing actually does and to see if it has any value.

Thanks again.

I'm headed out to the boat now to remove that thing. I guess I should change the name of this thread now to - For Sale - Malibu MMDC.

How do you know it's good? maybe it went bad and they decided not to replace, or they could not get it to work. jmo maybe a way to test.

I would venture to guess that someone may have been considering a conversion over to that for some odd reason, and chickened out/ran out of funds or ambition.

Reason I say that is that unit is not native to that boat it is in and looking at the cut hose, misfit hardware and no wiring, it came from a donor boat.

I called Malibu - the P/N on my box doesn't even show up on their list. "It's a relic." I was told. I'll just put it on the shelf next to my DOS computers and floppy disks! Also spoke to the previous owner of 15 years - no knowledge of that box or its origin. The answer to this mystery shall remain locked in the vault of time.
