What is hose ??

On a 60hp efi bigfoot.<br /><br />There is a hose on the lower unit with a plug in the end. Attached pointing up.. <br /><br />What is it for. Does it need to remain sealed?

Speedometer pickup, no.

If you pull out the plug without hooking up a speedo it just sprays water everywhere.

It's the connection for a speedometer. The feed tube connects to it and is routed to and connected to the back of the speedometer.

Thanks, I thought it might be, but did not know. <br />My pontoon boat has no speedo. In the dash, or on the driver either..
