I feel your pain because we've forgotten what rain looks like. I'm about to give up on the yard and do like the old people do; install gravel (never!). At least it's the Gulf of Mexico and we don't have to worry about it "being down". Still, the dry makes the heat seem hotter, doesn't it? Oh, on a side note, if you're like a lot areas and your sewer bill is based on your water consumption, make sure to let them know you filled up a swimming pool. It'll save money. If it's a septic tank.....then nevermind.

Yes, they charge me for sewer based on usage. And this is all going to end up on the grass tomorrow night. So I get hit a double whammy for watering my grass and filling the pool.

Hey scooper 77515 just come to my area if you want lots of rain
In the last month we have had over 8.5" of the D&m stuff
All the people in my apartment complex are asking if I am going to be "NOAH" and if they can hitch a ride if we get any more rain!

Hitched up our boat to a large pine tree and leaving the horse to swim out if she has to !

We have had so much rain, they can't open the locks on the Rideau Canal. The water is flowing right over them.

Dog Lake launches open ?

Yes, but it wont help if she doesn't have a boarding ladder.

It has been raining like crazy in central Nebraska. Lakes that have been down for YEARS have all reached full pool in the last 2 years. I cant even get a break to get my boat on the water. I wish I had a way to push the rain and flooding south!

Yes, but it wont help if she doesn't have a boarding ladder.

Boarding ladder to get 1 more horsepower and I weigh 200 plus pounds with her 1200# I've reached my boats 7 person and gear 1400# rating and she doesent wave goodbye to the rest of family very convincingly

Haven't been to Trinity and i-10 since I was a kid, and then was on a row-boat.

I tend to stay away from I-10 and lower due to the water ending up brackish or salty at times, but with all the rain up north, it is probably salt-free.

Are there any beaches to hang out at? What are the crowds like?

How far up river are you going?

how deep is the river right now?

That is MUCH closer to home than Livingston or Conroe. And should be protected from most of the winds, unlike the lakes.

Do you still get orange toenails from the water in the Trinity?

We used to have orange toenails and fingernails all summer long, when I was a kid. But we were swimming much further up, Just south of Liberty/Dayton. I think it was just iron-rich sand.

I feel your pain. Our lake goes up and down like a yo yo. 23' down then full pool. 11' down and now full pool. Part of it due to droughts and part is man made. The COE lets a lot of water out for different reasons. So it takes a lot of rain to keep it full pool. Very frustrating. I have posted about this on here before. Near 100 here every day and not much rain. So we know what is coming soon. I never get used to it. I hope your situation improves soon.
I saw news reports where La Nina is fading away during May and June. There is a delayed reaction by weather patterns though. We haven't had much tropical weather since the Katrina days in SC despite having La Nina in place. That is what we depend on for summer rains.

About 11-25 ft when i noticed it.
It does my tonails like that sometimes when i have been digging them in the sand
Yeah it doesnt matter the wind
my little girl likes it way better than the lake not as bumpy
And with the lake going so low see if you can find a pair of WX prescription sun glasses i lost them in your neck of the woods last year!

These jet skiers flipped over, and stood up in neck deep water. All the boats launching were either dragging or blowing up mud. One guy in a new tahoe q4 completely grounded off the ramp and drug outdrive all the way to no-wake zone.

All RIGHT!!! We just got a hail storm, and all the tornadic winds and such that accompany them... but only about half an inch of rain, which will help.

We went to the ramp yesterday with monster drinks and bagels in hand, just to watch the boats launch. The boats were hitting a sand bar about 20 yards behind the ramp, and dragging their stuff all the way out to the wake-zone bouys. So, we will not be trying it any time soon.

But a couple more rains like this, and we are back in the saddle again!

This year we had a record rainfall in April 5.8 inches of rain for April alone. We were a little under 11 inches for both April and May combined. Right now there barely is a ramp for the bay I launch my boat. The water was down about a foot or two last year, now it is is like 4 feet deeper. We would love to give u guys some rain!

Re: What is happening to my lake? Lake Houston drying up! We need RAIN!!!

Well, I guess i complained too much. So we got rain Sunday night. Not enough to bring the lake back up, but we got tornado, hail, and all kinds of fun stuff. Trees down all over the neighborhood, and the place I store my boat lost it's roof. Roof was torn off of aisles A B C and D, my boat is in aisle E!!! Close call. Storage unit is less than half mile from my house. Our yard is a mess with downed limbs and crap blown in from all over, and neighbor next door has a tree snapped in half on his fence. Trees behind our house are twisted and snapped, and many newly planted trees were just lifted out of the ground and laid down a little ways down.

We haven't had a drop since February, and then this in one day...

Re: What is happening to my lake? Lake Houston drying up! We need RAIN!!!

There doesn't seem to be any middle ground for most of the US this year. Feast or famine, flood or drought. Except for my little area in eastern Iowa. Spent pretty much all of April too cold, too windy and/or too rainy to boat most days but none of it to disaster levels. Just annoying.

On the other hand, western Iowa and eastern Nebraska are trying to prepare for the worst Missouri river flooding since 1952 due mostly to above normal snow fall in the basin and Montana getting nearly a year's worth of rain in about 2 weeks. Of course, many are blaming the Corp of Engineers for reservoir mismanagement.

Hmmm...there are lots of beaches that I don't recall ever seeing. In fact, I usually drive right over these areas with my outdrive fully down, with no issues....

People are actually beaching their boats on these "islands" and hanging out for the day.
