What is "Boat Topping" used for?

I see that Nautolex has a product called "Boat Topping". Its a fine grain vinyl that is fairly light weight at 16.3 oz a sq/yd. I can't find anything on the Nautolex website that indicates what it is used for.

And what is their Cabin Topping used for (17.4 oz sq/yd)?

Both of these are light weight compared to their vinyl flooring (24 oz sq/yd)

Anyone know?

Ayuh,...

If you're asking about, what I'm thinking it is,...

Back in the days of Wooden boats,...

A cotton material was streched over the cabin, or decks,+ Slathered,+ Soaked with an oil based enamel to create a waterproof, sun resistent topping....
