Today got me thinking, of all the bad things i found in my boat during my restore so far (rot, corrosion, etc, etc), I started to think if anyone has found anything good in their boat while restoring it?

My last one had about 20 lbs of fishing weights all shapes and sizes in the bilge.

Jar of power bait, a saltwater wash-down pump, a screw driver, a sardine plug, a bottle of sunscreen from the early 90's, and a kids life vest. Now, what would McGiver do with all of this stuff......

syringe:eek:

I am pretending that the PO used it to inject air into night crawlers for floatation.

...along with a bunch of sticks, leaves, sinkers, mouse doo, snap swivels, nasty foam...

Oh yah, there was a great Starcraft hull in there too.

I found an old 1 oz egg sinker encased in the original expansion floatation foam inder the deck. They must have been trying to fish while buidling the boat. :D

salt water corroision, which i read does not exsist.
a PO must have kept the boat in the water (small barnicles on bottom) with the motor down and the battery hooked up, can anybody say, electrolysis

The coolest thing I found was a 1976 penny hidden under the deck of my 1976 Hydrostream Viper. Other than that just trash...

Unoccupied mouse nest and lots of ants. The paper money must have rotted or been eaten.

Humm, a strange little folding chrome or SS ancor that weights about 4 pounds...Not sure what that was for:confused:

Cleaning out the under seat whatchamacall it I found a folded up $20 bill. Other than that all has been preety clean as the boat was just redon last year by the PO.

Re: What have you found in your restoration?

I found a pack of once-waterlogged smokes, a mushroom anchor, a few cheapo tools, some dock line, air horn, sunscreen, starting fluid (empty.. never a good sign), and some empty beer cans. At least the anchor and a crescent wrench were keepers.
