I know its long but please bear with me. I just tried to cover all the bases.
Ok, heres the story... I bought a boat at auction 3 weeks ago (16.9 ft, 88 Sea Ray with an 89 out board motor, the motor says Sea Ray but I was told it was a Mecury), i took it out on week 2 to the lake, it ran fine. Its a self mixing engine so i filled up the oil when i was out on the lake. i forgot to put the cap on, trimmed the motor up and spilled oil every where. That was no biggie. I got home cleaned it up and noticed a light brown oil leaking from a screw on the lower unit. I thought it was just oil i spilt coming out the bottom or something. Took it to the river last weekend and ran it all day. On the way back up the river it died out on me. I tried to pump the little hand pump on the fuel line and it wouldnt pressure up so i assumed it was out of gas, the guage said it had 1/4 tank but its only the 2nd time i had it out so i figured the guage didnt work. I filled it up and was going to flush it today and it wont start now. The first few times i tried it would act like it was starting and then make like on big lope and not do anything, a little smoke would come out of the propeller. Now its either doing that or just turning over and over and over. Theres also still a little oil leaking out of the screw at the bottom. What could be the problem?
