I was told by a boat mechanic that only certain gauges fit my 2001 yamaha 115 2 stroke. Problem is I have no idea which ones do? Mostly looking for the cheapest set. Only want water psi, volt, mph, tach, and trim. Don't need any others.

The tach is really the only gauge you need that's OEM Yamaha. You can buy'em on EbayMotors.com, but you'll need to know the correct parts number for your year. They all look alike. The tach has warning lights/buzzers in for overheating and/or oil system failures and low oil settings. It'll also put your engine into fail safe mode if there's a serious problem. They're around $200.

The other gauges can be universal. I don't care about a trim gauge or even a speedometer on a boat like you have. But, the water pressure gauge is nice to have.

You can use a universal outboard tach, it won't have the extra features the Yamaha one does.
