what gas to use and skeg question

i've got a 1999 merc 115 2x2 i was wondering what gas i should be using for my motor. also i just recently dented my skeg its about 1.2x1 inchs is this a must fix and will it affect the motors performance :cool:

Howdy, Bassnsnow. Use 87 octane, unleaded, alcohol free gasoline. <br /><br />I can't visualize the problem with your skeg from your description, so I can't say if it will affect performance.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB :)

BNS< If your skeg is dented, or bent, it can be straightened, by a prop remanufacure. If a chunk is missing, buy a skeg guard. Its a stainlees skeg that slips over the exsisting skeg and bolts on. They are very tuff, and look good,too. Quick easy way to fix a broken one, and cost only $100, plus you can fix it right on the boat.

is the skeg the fin that sticks down under the prop?
