Hi, I just bought a Mercury 65 hp (650) outboard 4 cyl. It did not come with a fuel line or tank. None of wal marts plugs will fit... I don't even know what year it is. Boat service places have told me anything from 20 to 60 dollars for a fuel line adapter (!!!)

So first, how do I know what year this motor is? The serial number is 2871825.
Second, I need the fuel line and adapter that will plug into the motor, (bottom left when facing front of motor) where do I find one, or can I just rig something?

Thanks for any help!

That s/n comes up as:

65 650 (R4) 4-cyl 2803562 2997338 1970 USA

From here:

http://www.marinshopen.se/Motorer/O...Mercury2takt4cyl4085hp/tabid/487/Default.aspx

It is a model:

1650100 MERCURY 1970 65

Parts listing:

http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury-outboard/450.cfm

Under Fuel Pump, see item 21, adapter. If you have a Merc shop close by, take the adapter number to them and they should be able to provide you with a female coupler.

Or have a look here:

Ok, thanks for the reply, but the part on the diagrams was the male end, I needed the female. That male end in the diagram is $40+ But I did find what I needed, just to follow up... it is part # 22831T3 and can be found at

http://store.eastcoastmarineservice.com/product_p/22831t3.htm

I got it at my local store for $19.99 but there were some on Ebay for $13-$15, I just didn't wanna wait. :)

Hope this helps the next guy!!
