What else will bolt up to Volvo 270 outdrives?

I got a project boat, one motor was pulled and left outside and the other is unknown condition. They are aq125a 4 cylinders. Was just wondering if other 4 cyl or efi motors would bolt up to the 270 outdrives? Can even find one of those motors to buy online.

A 3.0 liter engine will work but you will need an adapter plate made to bolt the Chevy to the Volvo pattern. The Volvo flex plate will bolt on to the Chevy flywheel with the same thickness spacer that the adapter plate has. Also the front of the pdf shaft has a small extension that centers in the Volvo crankshaft so you will need a bushing to fit it together. The exhaust will have to be routed through the transom since the Volvo exhaust is on the starboard side. Electrical can be made to work if you are familiar with it. First make sure the Chevy flywheel will have the same diameter as the Volvo for clearance.

I would suggest finding a running AQ125 , or if you really want to change, get a complete longtail and modify the transom as needed

I was just looking at the engine that’s out and it’s not the same one in the boat lol very similar. Going to post a pic and see if someone can tell me how to find the hp. Has no tag
