Common sense, respect for the wind, check the weather report, not to hit the Police boat moored in the harbour....

One day (probly 3rd time out) I apparently forgot which side of the green marker i was supposed to be on... Looked at my ipad with navionics gps ploting my course, and realized my error JUST as i hit the sandbar. At 25 mph. drove that sucker about 20 feet, beached it but good.. ended up sitting in about 12" of water, waves hiting the boat, boat not moving. Also blew out the tilt clutch, jammed the leg up (800 stringer drive) and dug the keel in pretty deep (81 chris craft 253) took about an hour pushing and another boat pulling to get her back in the bay... i was real lucky to have not find a rock in that sand bar... oh, and to finish off the day, when I returned to my dock i hit reverse and due to the tilt gearbox loosing all its oil, the drive lifted/tilted itself right up out of the water.. good thing a friend was on the bow to keep from crashing into the boat at the adjacent dock.
