Israel exists for two reasons.<br /><br />1. Having gotten support from various countries to assuage guilt over sitting on our butts and letting Hitler pull off the holocaust, they prepared and trained to defend themselves.<br /><br />2. They have thoroughly kicked the butts of anyone who attacked them or who sought to attack them.<br /><br />Israel has exhibited no other objective than to exist and be left alone.

I don't pretend to be an expert in Iran, but I don't think military intervention is a viable option.<br /><br />I don't think the Iranian people are suicidal, but like any other people they are proud. We have to simply ignore the bellicose words of their President, and work backchannels, and leverage our relationships with Russia and China, to somehow allow Iran to obtain nuclear energy while somehow keeping them from being a threat.<br /><br />And at the same time, we need to keep the rhetoric toned down, and allow the Iranians an opportunity to comply with our goals while at the same time saving face, and not appearing to the world they caved in to the west.<br /><br />It's a tough and delicate task, for sure, but I don't get the feeling that most Iranians are completely foolhardy Jihadists, and there ought to be some way to accomplish this.

Ya know Iran was turning around to be a "nicer" country before the current psychopath was elected.<br /><br />Perhaps the best solution would be a bullet in his head.<br /><br />No one was worried or talking about Iran until they called for nukes. I tend to agree with ya PW2.<br /> its gonna take a delicate balance to achive our goals while allowing the nationalist pride of the Iranian people to survive.<br /> wont do it as long as we have leaders both in the white house and religous TV calling names and calling for assasinations.<br />sometimes you have to remember how to catch flies.<br /> as far as the nuke program its been going on 25-30 years and most of the Iranian stuff is either french or US manufactured,<br /> ask our brilliant tactical planner otherwise known as Rumsfeld about it, while your asking maybe ask how North korea got its reactors as well in the late 90's early 2000's.<br /> a big concern is how are the countries that border Iran going to react to US military intervention and how can we shield the US military from electronic eavesdropping so close to the reds and the bear.
