350 mag mpi twins with bravo 3s.

Port engine started having trouble starting when hot, had to crack the Throttle to start it. This weekend noticed some unusual sounds when starting between tuber riders.

Temp gauge did nothing out of the ordinary since 3 years Ive owned it

brought it home to look it over, went to do compression test, plugs 4&6 had water on them. Theres my problem.

pulled heads off and found this hairline crack between cylinders on the port engine.

what caused this? Random gasket failure? This doesnt seem likely as the other side has heat discoloration too and was on its way to failure.

its never overheated to my knowledge either. Could this have been a mild overheat before I bought it 3 years ago?

impellers were replaced when I bought and every season since.

the boat has ~760 hours. Freshwater only to my knowledge and the paint on the engine and bolts/nuts looks factory; leads me to believe its never been apart.

need recommendations on replacement engines. Tempted to go 383 stroker and what to do with this hunk of steel that worthless in its current state.

Seriously, do you expect actual advice from this post? How about a little info...
but what the hell, I'll go with not draining the block properly.

Cracked exhaust manifold let water in on top of exhaust valves. Hydrolocked one of those cylinders and the pressure blew out the gasket and the cylinder wall.

Here are the pics of the manifolds. No leaks, they appear to be in great shape.

Combined the threads because all of them had replies and didn't want to lose the pretty pictures.

See modified 1st post.

I have no idea where the pics went. They were there when the threads were combined and your IdeaBook is blank. Not empty, but blank.

Post the pics again.

Anybody? Still stumped on this one. Further looking at my head gasket, I have 2 areas the gasket was burned away.
