See post #4, picture 4. How many wires do you see going to the sparkplugs? Have you actually removed the cowlings and looked into the lower cowl?

But if you are saying it is a three cylinder, discount all of my posts and Good Luck with your engine.

Sorry about that half asleep a 11mo crying in one ear and a pregnant lady in the other, its a 4cyl. Some reason i was thinking of the pontoon that i just rebuilt the carbs on it has a newer mercury 3cyl on it,

'm not denying its gonna be work but the engine runs great, it even came with its pull rope, but i am gonna redo the rigged wiring that was done then start on the other stuff..

1st picture shows the trim limit wires are cut; you're gonna need this diagramwiring diagram.jpg to rewire engine. For TNT you need the four hose pump and 4 hoses and switches, look on ebay. Throw those spark plugs out and replace them with L76V I'd also take the cap off the distributor and look at the contacts but DO NOT TRY TO PULL THE ROTOR OFF! it is molded on to the shaft. I would buy a manual if you are going to dive into this one.

I have the exact same motor on my 17' 1975 double eagle. Mine has the original tilt and trim, same style set up as yours. If there's a pump its likely mounted up under the splashwell. Mine had never seen salt water until I bought it so there's almost no corrossion. I haven't had to replace any parts on mine other than spark plugs since I've owned it and we used it several times a week all last summer. The bluebands are good motors and parts are still widely available.

Did the OP says that engine runs? Gee from the looks of it, I didn't think that was possible.
