I want to get a 14ft. boat that I can use on the Connecticut River as well in lakes and such. Interested in using it for fishing as well as just pleasure riding and would like to accomodate maybe four persons at times for pleasure cruising. I would like to keep the whole outfit around $4000-$5000 if possible. I have been looking at a Lowe 14ft. L1448MT and would like to outfit it with side steering console, side controls and a Merc motor around 10 to 15 HP. The reason I am looking at an aluminum is for easy maintainance but not sure about the "Jon" ride. I have a small 12ft. Lowe Jon now that I use strictly for fishing in ponds and very small lakes and I power that only with a 46 lb. thrust electric trolling motor. The trailer I have now would accomodate the new 14ft...another reason why I like the Lowe L1448MT. Am I limiting myself to better selections out there? Thanks for all your help.

4 people in a 14' boat is tight. Since you have a 12, why not go for a 16, and then you can choose which you want to use on a particular trip?

3 people on a 14' is tight. Especially if you want to fish. My 14' Lund is too small for my GF and I to fish all day in, and I'm in the market for a 16-18...
ever hear of two foot-itis??
