What adhesive to use for marine vinyl decking?

Plan to glue down Nautolex Deco Dot marine vinyl deck covering. Its a solid vinyl product with a light fabric backing. The deck will be sealed with a glass/poly resin coat, so it will be non-porous.

I am concerned about the dry ability of water based "outdoor carpet" adhesives, because neither the deck, or the Nautolex will let vapor pass through, so I wonder how a water based product will dry.

The concern with a solvent based adhesive is if it will affect the vinyl Nautolex, and also if it will dry quickly between glass and vinyl.

What do you think? Which is the best product?

BTW, Nautolex does sell a solvent based adhesive, but it is nearly 4 times the price of the adhesives sold by the marine deck covering retailers. Due to budget constraints, trying to avoid buying the Nautolex adhesive.

The Nautolex glue I bought and used is water based. It's what I used for my Deco Dot, check my phtobkt. I applied it over sanded epoxy and it STICKS. Got a gallon and used about half for an area 10X3. Had to water it down to get a consistency of honey. For the long run it might be worth it.

Good to hear. I was afraid that the water based adhesive would not cure properly when "sandwitched" between two non-porous surfaces.

BTW, how do you like the Deco Dot? Is it easy to clean? Is it holding up to wear well?

I looked at your photobucket pics, but couldn't tell which pic showed the deco dot. Can you link it in?

Thanks

Mark.

Yeah it's expensive but it works. I also used the Nautolex adhesive with success. It's not super thick and you apply it with a paintbrush. I had some air bubbles and actually was not real thrilled with my vinyl installation. However after some time out in the sun it looks like they've all settled and my deck looks pretty darn good. I used the Nautolex though, not the deco dot.

So far I like the Deco dot. I have been scuffing around in the boat and so far it seems to hold up well. Vacuuming works better than trying to sweep because of the dots. Page 4/5 in the album has all the pics. Here a couple. Need my glue?
