I just got a nearly new 30hp and they threw in the LS kit. I need help.
installing the three parts will require major work.
just got a nearly new 30hp and they threw in the LS kit. I need help. I took off the lower unit ok. I might have to remove the power head to install the water tube.
I feel like it would be simpler to cut away and lower the transom from 20" to 15" on this old lowe 16 my buddy gave me?
any ideas?
Will this create a dangerous boat? I am using a 500gpm bilge pump.
Other thoughts on the motor repair...I can understand the new shift rod. I see what could be a split ring under the bearing that is under the water pump. The spline has a threaded tip after the splines on the bottom.
how do I get it outa nd the new one in.
Will I have to do an engine oil change and remove the upper lower unit, or skeg,to get the water pipe put in? I see about six bolts plus the lower pivot mounts holding it to the lower motor cover.

Thanks

Altering the transom will reduce the resale value of your boat... a lot! Not to mention safety factors... sure, people do this kind of stuff every day... but that doesn't make it right or safe, I call them Lemmings because "They saw someone else do it, so I can do it too!"

Your 500 gph (not gpm, that would be a helluva bilge pump) ain't diddle squat when compared to your floatation foam, make sure your foam is good and you'll have little to worry about.

A manual specific to your motor would help you with what may or may not need to be done to install the kit.... You can try here:

http://search.ebscohost.com/

Username: marshall
Password: public

after logon:

Select small engine repair

Select Marine/Boat motor

Scroll down & select manufacturer

Specific manual for your particular year & motor, would be better, but in a pinch the combined is better then nothing

You, and any subsequent buyer, will have many more motor options in long shaft. And most people would want a taller transom in large waves/wakes & any sort of big water.

It doesn't really matter but: lund or lowe 16??

EDIT: Looks like you did start a thread in Honda Nissan OB forum:facepalm:
