What’s up with this fuel filter?

I came across this filter in the parts diagram, it is between the cup filter and the vst. Doesn’t seem to be referenced in the service manual and I don’t see/hear much about it. Any comments out there? Has it caused anyone issue? Thanks, Adam

I should specify, for a Yamaha F115 (07).

I didn't know there was such a filter. Is it a yearly maintenance item?

The filter was added to the F115 model along the way. 2005 model year I believe. Yamaha is terrible about updating service manuals to depict new parts. It does not show up until service manual LIT-18616-02-98 which is for later F115 models.

I would suspect there is no yearly needed to change the filter. Would depend upon how much gasoline is used. Even then it might be changed "on condition".

Oh, IDK, maybe its on other Yamaha motors too? Didn't think it was too far a stretch to wonder if it was on other HP's besides f115's!

Nope. Only used on certain F115's and LF115's.

Pulled mine out and there was resistance as I tried to blow air through it. Just put in a new one, we’ll sew if it helps my high rpm problem.
