Wet sanding Help

Guys -- I know there have been a million post on this topic - I have read them all and done plenty of research BUT....

After wet sanding and then using rubbing compound and then waxing I can't seem to get that "Shine" that I was expecting -- I jsut did a test spot and it looks more dull now.

any advice would help --- area I am doing is not oxidized badly it just has a shadow where I removed the graphics.

what grits?....on gellcoat, pros go as high as 1600 to get the shine....

and what compounds are you using?

remember.....wet sanding scratches cannot be removed....dry sanding can.
