Yep, I went and feel that it was one big waste of time. Went to ALLCARE a new place in town. My old dentist died a year ago this fall from a quad accident. He was great. Never spent anymore than 45 minuets from the time I got there to the time I left. He only did what was asked of him. He would make his suggestions and opinions, but he left it at that.

Today, I spent an hour and a half and only had xrays done plus their opinion on what needs to be done and when. I have an infected tooth and I know I have to take antibiotics first before the extraction. The scheduler said their doc that does the extractions is booked up for 3 weeks. HUH? They make you suffer in pain until its pulled? Geeesh, why can't I call the shots on what is to be done. All I want is the friggin tooth pulled that is bothering me.

I think it is just to see how much money they can get out of a person. I'm not one who is worried about my looks. However it sure seems that they want me to have a Hollywood smile. I eventually want a full upper plate, but they want to do one root canal, fill two others and pull the other 4 of my uppers. Then make a new partial. I am missing quiet a few uppers and wear a partial already. I told them my plans of having a full partial and argued with me that they won't do it that way.

They are right, they won't do it that way because I think I'm going to find someone else. I want someone who will take care of the immediate problem and not budget their finances on what they can do to my mouth.

I can see my job of telling a customer, Uh, sorry sir, I know your AC is broken, but maybe first we can run new wires to it because the old wires are faded in color and the unit should be painted as well. Also we will scedule to have the coils cleaned, air duct flow tested, freon lines cleaned/polished, and other needless things before we can fix the AC. Yeah, that would go over real well in my business.

Sorry for the ranting, but why can't a person get what they want vs what they want you to do?

Maybe I can get OBJ, a few cases of longnecks, and a pair of needle nose pliers.........Oh how it is tempting to do a redneck extraction.

I hear ya SS. I am lucky, mine just fall out on their own. Gum disease keeps them loose and they will just fall out.
I think I have 5 left and when they are gone, that's it.
No false one's for me, plus my gums won't hold them anyway.

Ya get OBJ to do the extraction, and I will video tape it and we will make a fortune. :D

Re: Went to the dentist

I hate dentists like that. I took my 9 year old to one of 'those' dentists recently. They wanted to do all sorts of things from cap baby teeth to cut the skin between his front teeth out.

Found a different pediatric dentist, showed her the to do list and she literally laughed. He got one filling on a permanent tooth and some stuff to toughen the enamel and slow the decay for the baby teeth. The x ray she showed me(taken at the first dentist office) shows his adult teeth pushing on the two baby teeth with the cavities. They are not going to be around in 3 months.

I rate some dentists right along side with some lawyers.

Spend that extra hour driving to a small town with a Dentist who has been there forever.

They still remember what service is.

Re: Went to the dentist

That is a good idea JB. This morning my jaw is swelled and is painful. I was gonna email their corporate office while I was upset, but thought I would cool off.

This office reminds me of a garage. Take your car in for a flat tire and they want to change the oil, align the front end, tune up, wash/wax, clean bugs out of the grill, and many other things that doesn't relate to what the problem was.

Maybe some people like their dentist to be that way and are goulable enough to follow through.

The stuff that they are doing with childrens baby teeth is crazy. Money out of the parents pocket and into theirs. Its like putting a new paint job on a car that is sitting in the scrap yard.

JB, I'm taking your advice and going to a small town close to mine. One doc, one attendant and that is all.

I think instead of emailing their corporate office, sending a letter to the BBB maybe better.

When I was in the Navy, they only did what was neccessary, they weren't there to make you look good.

KaGee, I agree with you about the dentist and attorneys. They are no different than a greedy gold digger.

Yep, I finally found a good dentist. For years some have been telling me I need to pull wisdom teeth. I found one that said dont need to pull them. He also filed down a sharp edge on the wifes tooth for 100% free.

I hope he never leaves town.

Ken

I hear your pain SS. You'll remember all the hassle I had before but most of that was down to me and the fact that the dentist was so far away (around a 300 mile round trip).

Pity about your old dentist: I reckon old dentists are like good cars, hard to find and worth the keeping.

Hope the pain eases for you soon, I've been there recently and don't want to go back there again!

Ps, a full plate is way cool: makes cleaning 'em a whole lot easier, just don't use carb cleaner or seafoam :D
