- Random thoughts about this boat - no T-top, single Optimax 225
What I like:
Console cabin is usable, even for a 6-2 220#'er like myself. It's possible to get a decent rest snoozing in the cabin.
Lots of deck room, especially behind the helm.
Wiring is good, access to serviceble items is semi-reasonable.
Fairly dry ride, benefits from added weights of fuel, folks, and equipment makes this a better handling boat. High gunwales make this a great boat for smaller kids in too.
No wood in transom, very heavy one too. This boat would have no problems handling a 4-stroke.
What I dislike
Lack of outside storage, like console cubbies/drawers, recessed areas within inner hull.
Windage: any light breeze on the forward beam makes low speed handling a real bear; lots of corrective steering needed. Suicde nob on helm a must.
Plastic thru-hull fittings.
Deck scuppers need to be more flush with deck or put flush on deck, not sidewalls.
Deck hatches need more lip to prevent water on deck from infiltrating.
