Thing's seem to be so damm slow here lately id thought id post a few face lift mod's im doing to a 2001 Wellcraft.

As usual i got knee deep before i started pic's but here is some of the work

What has been done here was simple, a quick trip to TAP plastic's and i found those carbon fiber blank's, i just took them and copied the orignal's and laid back in the gauge's and switche's.

Picture112-1.jpg

Here's some unused space and i have a few toy's that could use far better. So i just cut down the orignial to size (almost done) and moved them a little.

Picture113-1.jpg

And now come's the move for my new gadget's......... still a little work to do but im sure it will work out

Picture114-1.jpg

This boat was lost in a large marina's inventory for 5 years, yes wrapped in plastic and forgotten. Im sure anyone with a working knowledge of what can happen in that kind of time span would shudder what could be the outcome of the equipment gauges gel etc etc.

I bought the boat on pure faith and to my amazement Wellcraft warranted all of the cosmestic problem's............so if your looking for a Mfg that goes above and beyond for it's customer's. i will attest to there integerity.

The vinyl had sat for year's and when exposed to the real world a fungus developed turning the whole interior pink (spots) and believe it not Wellcraft honored there warranty and are reupholstering the seating

nice, i like the carbon fiber dash, a matching steering wheel would look good too. The built in graph is sweet too, my buddy's ranger has that, makes me jealous.:|

Looks good TG. What did you cut the carbon fiber with and how did you finish the edges?

Regarding the pink vinyl. I'da left it. You could have told people it was from a wild sangria party.8)

Opps that not real carbon fiber just a lookie lu abs plastic, simple enough to just do a baby router job and sand to one's liking from there. The Graph is going to be cut in , if you will look up and see those switche's its going there, and there going to the void with that half done template.

Ok just so ya know there is no wine on Gunner's boat, just burbon........ unless mrs. Gunner finally decide's to take a ride in the new 3 person tube.....

Which TAP Plastics do you frequent? Downtown or Tigard?

Tigard i think it was about 50 or 60 dollars. Look's a little cheap in it's raw form but when finished it really surprised me.

Tail Gunner,

Just came across this post. I am thinking about replacing some of my switch panels...also a Wellcraft. How are you planning on labeling your switches?

Very sparingly, it will heat up and melt if your not careful. I recieved better result's from using a orbital sander, takes just a bit longer but work's better. Tap also has special blades made for cutting plastic, conventional blade's heat up the plastic also.

Re: Wellcraft facelift

Well iv'e finally gotten to the exterior, the paint being used is Interlux. This time i used Prime-Kote and Perfection, it is different than Brightside's harder to work with but give's better result's, that is the primer is denser and quite a bit harder and the Perfection has a higher luster.

I shot the primer with a HPLV sprayer and the first coat of Perfection, in my own opinion that was not the right sprayer, both paint's had to be reduced 35-40% just to get the product out of the gun. On the primer it left a sand paper like finish which took quite a while to cut down, and on the Perfection the paint has such high luster the orange peel can be seen so a second coat will be done.

Im going over to harbor freight today to get a pressure pot which will do a better job of atomization and it's only 40.00 so what the heck. I wish i could have take the boat out in the sun for better pic's but it's raining so that will have to wait, Soo Boom here comes pic's galore...
