Alright guys, I've been putting it off but i think it's time to repair some rot on my baby. It's got a few soft spots on the drivers side that I'd like to take care of. From what I've found, when it rains, the water makes it in from the bow cup holder and pools up on the deck in several places( before the bench seat, and under the bench seat). So my question is, what is underneath the carpet? Gelcoat? Fiberglass? Wood? And how would I repair this without messing up the carpet too bad. Also, how would I remove the wrap around seats in the bow? I stuck my hand up in a compartment, and can feel the threads of what feels like wood screws. If I don't forget, I'll post some pics tomorrow before or after work lol

When i started out with my first boat it had a soft spot in the deak thought no big deal just replace the deak YA RITE It turned into stringers bulk heads and deak. And it was then i relized boats rot from the bottom up. Now im in the middle of a complete resto on a 84 wellcraft elite same thing 1 soft spot in deak But new i was in for a much bigger job then just deak And yup every thing rotton includding the transom So i wouldnt worry about your carpet and be prepared for the worst its a boat. But thats just my experiance!

Well soo far everything is going smoothly. I've got the carpet out around the trouble areas and have removed one soft spot soo far. Everything around that soft spot seems pretty solid.

When you say you have removed one soft spot, what does that mean exactly?

I cut out where the floor was rotten and kept cutting till the wood was dry and solid. I cut out about 1ftx1.5ft on that spot
