ok...
some of you are not reading all of what's been said.
The marina has not said anything except "we will take care of it"
That is ALL they have said because at this point that is all that can be said.
The marina manager is not there this week. They asked, however, even though he was on vacation if I wanted him to call me and I said no, I'll talk to him this coming week. That was MY call, I want to be there with him present.
Pa. allows Ins. co. to offer as options underinsured and no insured clauses .
I have neither. The truck was no longer a "new" truck. What they did for me was above and beyond.
My comprehensive coverage was the minimum required, which was $10,000...They went above and beyond....period.

It was a dealer that said the specific pontoon that was supplied with my boat may..repeat MAY ... not be available. He is not involved.
It is no simple matter to replace a toon regardless of what anyone says on a boat that is 18 years old. Having the exact one simplifies a job such as this. I've done enough "renovations" and "patch" jobs on multiple fronts to know that if a part is not an exact replacement, it can get interesting.
Opinions are appreciated, but facts matter.

Already getting the run around….. there is no such thing as exceeding “agreed value” with an agreed value policy. It pays the value noted on the policy, no exceptions…

Your problem, the marina carries liability only insurance…. Run around is coming

Probably not as great as you give them credit for…..most States require insurance providers include uninsursed motorist coverage by law.

Being a new vehicle, the comprehensive coverage would have covered the cost of your new truck, not uninsured motorist
I said "alleged" not "agreed"
Regardless, no one is even close to that subject yet......

and new pontoons are out there, no secret and not hard to find
but those "M" brackets have to match the crossbeam spacing, fit the holes already drilled AND be aligned properly and fit the side filler panel, or it will not be right...
but not even close to that yet.

In my area, they weld the brackets onto the logs where needed, or given the dimensions when the new logs are ordered. Perhaps your over thinking this issue

not so much overthinking as there is a lot to think about. Including the upcoming season , if I get one.

I get your frustration. It is one thing to deal with a problem that you caused, but an entirely different situation to deal with a problem someone else caused.

That said, at this point, it sounds to me like the Marina is at least attempting to do the right thing. The fact that the manager was willing to call you while on vacation and they have admitted it was their fault are both pluses on the Marina side of things.

On the pontoon side of things, replacing the logs on an older toon is not that big of a deal. As has been mentioned, they can either be ordered with the brackets at the right position, or you can have that done with a "blank log" and replace the old log brackets onto the new log. Both are done with regularity. My brother has replaced both of his logs with oversized logs and his toon is an early 90's. Granted, he is a boat mechanic, but he did it himself in his own garage, not the marina workspace.

And yes, I would want the log replaced.

At this point, try not to expect the worst and don't go loaded for bear when you speak to the Marina manager. Let him speak and hear what he has to say. After that you can decide if you are going to have to fight or if you can trust (but verify) that they are going to do the right thing.

Good-luck! Hoping all works out right.

Thanks
I’ll take any info as to a competent pontoon repair/replace facility.
I have found only one , USA pontoons…500 miles away though.
Great Lakes skipper has toons…
The welder says no way to repair safely. You can’t heat aluminum like that. As someone else also said.
That’s all I’ve come up with.
Meeting 9am Friday.
I’m not saying anything…just getting all the info I can. That’s why I asked on here.

Where can you order toons?
Thanks

Toons are a pipe, made in a few different diameters cut to length and brackets with end caps. Boat manufacturers build to what's available. Your marina is stalling for time while they look for salvage toons that will fit to save a buck.

Toon logs are bought from the manufacturer. A new log will cost about $2500. Used logs can be found and are not a bad option. Logs can also be fixed and welded. One way to fix a dented log is to pressurize the inside of the log till the dent pops out. Another way to fix it is to cut out the dent and weld a piece in its place. Repairing a log may cost $700.

thanks...but
Lowe may not have a toon for an 18 year old pontoon.....that'll be checked
I'm fine with a good (emphasis good) used logs...I need two
Logs may be fixed and welded, it depends ....aluminum is tricky, requires experts. ....that I do know.
so here's this, I've been doing my due diligence.....this guy knows his stuff.
