Forgetting to turn on the blower could kill you, your family, and anyone around the boat. There is a current thread where the man turned on the blower, blower motor was on but the cage fan wasn't spinning, hit the ignition and blew his wife overboard.

Failing to use your eyes and nose on initial start up and using the incorrect materials in you boat is what kills you.Still havent seen the answer as to where the fuel came from.

Re: Weird Problem, Please help!

I understand, it was just an accident. I am usually anal about running it, but just had a lot of other things going on at that moment. Ran the boat again yesterday with no problems. I am hoping it was just that..

Where the fuel came from would be a good thing to know, I believe fumes just naturally build up as the boat sits correct? I havent had any fuel issues in the past and do not notice a fuel smell while using it.

Thanks to everyone

Well, I hope thats all it was John. Now may be a good time to check the fuel fittings and renew any suspect hoses or clamps. Good luck.

John,

I had this exact problem with my 98 Merc 4.3 EFI. Exactly as you described, it would take 5 sec on first startup then be fine for the rest of the day. But, It got progressivly worse over time.
Turned out to be the starter slave solenoid. Cheap and easy fix.
HTH
Tom
