I have a 94 9.9 Estart that I don't care for
If I pull the starter how much weight would you save.
Can I keep the flywheel as is , or should it be swapped too .

Not enough to matter I would think....also, you would have to get the pull start mechanism stuff ...right?

Maybe you could trade it to someone who has a 9.9 with out the starter.

The Estarts came with pull starts.

After a bit of research, according to the Factory Service manual there's a difference of 8lbs between the rope and E-start @ 72lbs and @80lbs respectively (dry weight).

Thanks for the recommendation. When you get used to a certain amount of power , it's hard to downgrade. I'm also aware that Tohatsu makes a 9.8 that weighs 59LBS . But those are essentially 8HP blocks with a bigger carb. Johnsons and Evinrudes are the best, and not really interested in running any other brands.

Why would you worry over 6 or so lbs??? You can use an ATV battery to start it.....no real weight there

Because I work out and exercise regularly every single day , mainly bodybuilding . I also lift my outboards with one arm. On my days off , lighter is better . Boating is supposed to be fun.
