I stand corrected then. I forgot one Mr. LF

A cheese exchange was established and in the years 1853 - 1875, Little falls was cheese market to the Nation.

Ah ha, and all this time you thought Herkimer was famous for it's cheese. :p

Re: Weekly Q&A 8-28 thru 9-3

The first internet connection I had was in Northern Ontario, and was email only. Got it to correspond with daughter in college in Alaska, and the $1.00 / minute phone rate at the time was out of the question.

My first boat was a home built 13 1/2 ft wood runabout built more or less from plans culled from some magazine. Made slightly wider and lower than plans called for, and it worked great (though I could never get the fiberglass to stick to the wood properly, and the thing leaked always)

Our first family boat was a 12' rowboat

I solo'd at age 6 with that 12 ft rowboat with a 1949 evinrude 2 1/2 hp. That motor still works fine, and my younger brother has it.

No trophies

Useless Bay on Whidbey Island Wa. Rumor has it that it was called that by Cap'n Vancouver, who got stuck on the miles of tideflats there for months. Not sure if that is true or not, but it makes sense (Next bay to the south is Cultass Bay, and immediately north is Mutiny Bay---he must have had a fine time there!)

1. First internet site? AOL.

2. First boat? Homemade wooden Jon.

3. Think I was about 7 when I first operated a boat solo.

4. Trophies? A lot that I don't have any more. 1944 National Penmanship Contest first place. 1949 Moore County (NC) smallbore rifle champion. Numerous karting trophies including Regional Championships.

5. My hometown, Southern Pines, NC, and neighboring Pinehurst, where I was born, are famous for golf courses and tournaments as well as being a very popular retirement town for senior military officers.
