Hi. I always avoided boating when there was any wind, rain or thunderstorm precipitated. I really want to go fishing today but I am a bit concerned about the weather. Could you please help me with the forecast and advise how harsh weather can I expect?

Doing the same here, but it is unfortunately due to other obligations, not weather this time.
If you're hesitant to be on your boat on waters that you are usually in - maybe wait for weather in your area and boat you are comfortable with

Full disclosure - I don't always do that, but in those times I'll be focusing on operating the craft, not planning on fishing at those times. And I think my boating area is much different than yours.

You should know your area better than us. I'm guessing your weather down there always calls for storms in the pm, and they're hit or miss and hyper local. Like us during the summer. If I'm out in the afternoon I keep an eye on the sky and on the radar. If there's a big front coming through that's different. Also highly depends on whether you're in a40ft trawler or a row boat. I wouldn't knowingly go out in that weather. My boat could handle it but my passengers couldn't.

Many considerations to take into account...Winds from different directions will affect your body if water differently. I use western basin of Lake Erie as my place to go boating. In my area any wind from the NE will cause chop or rough seas and fishing will be poor. Winds from the west or south are protected from the shore so a 10-15 mph wind is not a problem. I have a 16' V bottom than can handle a 1-2' wave with no problem but very uncomfortable over 2'. I have also had over 60 years of boating experience, so I know how to handle rough situations and how to avoid problems. All in all, you beed to consider your experience, your boat size, what kind of waves can you and your boat handle.
Only you can decide what is safe and learn to read your boating area in regards to what a wind will do to that body of water.

The weather that you say you avoid going out in is exactly what the weather report in your post shows. So stay home.
Without having first hand knowledge of the area you’re boating in, it’s difficult at best to advise you. For example a 15 knot wind where I fish and boat may not create the same conditions where you are. In addition the direction of the wind can affect conditions. Also the size and type of boat makes a difference. And many many other variables.
You need to base your decision on your experience in your area. Or talk to other experienced boaters in your area.

From a sailing perspective the 15k would be a challenge especially with T storms.. fish deep.

I have a 20' deep v Angler boat with a single 150hp outboard.

I went on the water, mainly to get my feet wet in rough conditions, I need to get that experience somehow.
It was a pretty productive day, especially at noon, seatrouts were beating it with every cast. Late afternoon got very slow and barely any bites. I've spent all day on the water. The sun was shining the whole time. All apps were showing rain and thunderstorms. Windy was literally showing overhead thunderstorms while it was sunny and calm. The only experience I got today is not to trust weather forecasts and weather radars :D

I was considering investing in SiriusXM receiver and antenna. Does it show any other forecasts which are more reliable, or is it exactly the same info that is accessible via smartphone apps?

Glad you had a good day out - and returned to the hard. The weather info is fine to look at as a reference, actually being there with the experience of your skills, boat, water, etc is invaluable.

Never tried SXM weather, but have SXM for music. I use the "free" radar info available as an additional reference nowadays. I'd be surprised if the SXM weather gives any different radar - but I'll be following along to learn if that's the case
