Weak Pee Stream

I just started my '86 Merc 60HP for the first time this year. I replaced the water pump last year when I did the winter storage. I used the muffs like I always do. When I started the motor, the pee stream was soo strong it shot across the sidewalk. I ran it for about 10 min, then shut down. Started it later that day and the stream seemed weaker. Started it again 2 days later and the stream was pulsing and then stopped. The water is comming out the hub and out the upper exaust port.
I was going to blow air back through the head to clear any blocks. Would it hurt anything to blow air back down the head?

Thanks for any help.

Keith

Re: Weak Pee Stream

Do everything else, but try not to blow air thru it. You might blow a pump gasket.
Remove the T-stat and try it.
That pulsing is the T-stat opening and closing, and probably not the way it oughta.
But be sure to replace it when done testing.
If a new T-stat don't restore the flow, then you may have to drop the lower unit and replace the impeller.
(not hard,just messy).

------------------
Time to change my tagline
