end of water tube.jpgI lowered my lower unit to replace the impeller and the end of the water tube came with it because it was corroded through. Does the upper seal have to be changed or can I gently pull out the remaining water tube and reinsert it from below. I am a tenderfoot so any advice is appreciated! I also have to take the old water tube out from the plastic end that inserts into the Water Pump housing. Does anyone have any advice on doing that and putting the new tube in place? Thanks a lot! Paul

Re: Water Tube replacement

Need to know what year and what model/horse power your motor is before anyone can answer your question.

Re: Water Tube replacement

Most tubes have a rubber grommet and a flange holding them in place.
That means pulling the power head.
I've made a temporary fix with a piece of garden hose.
Like PNW says need more info.

Re: Water Tube replacement

From this diagram item 5 is the waterline inlet or water tube. Unfortunately, it is already obsolete so your best bet is to fabricate one. The pic maybe too small but you can always zoom it and print it for readibility.

Re: Water Tube replacement

No it needs to be put in from the top.
It also needs a rubber grommet and the screws holding it in place will probably twist off and need to be fixed too.
Just use the hose fix.WAY easier.
Bring it over and I'll help. :)

Re: Water Tube replacement

As Jerry mentioned, if you take note of the mounting bracket that holds the tube, it screws from the top hence requires head removal. I guess a proper size hose, silicone instead of plastic material, will be an easier fix. This tube doesn't get hot since it transport cooling water rather than hot water.
