Water Tube Removal Question about Flanged End

Looking to change upper water tube grommet. I got it off of the exhaust housing adapter.

I noticed that the tube was kinda collapsed-in at the flanged end

Do new ones crush in like that; as shown @ the 7 and 10 o'clock in my pic? I can't see a good pic online, but I can't imagine it's normal.

Also - any tricks to getting this guy out? This does have to come out flanged end first, right? Aka UP or away from water pump.. There's no info in the service manual 'cept for, "remove it".

"Normal" for a salt water motor, but certainly not like "new".

I did cut it out. I see how much corrosion was there. So that crushed that tube, huh?

Correct-----Oxygen joins with the aluminum.-----Makes aluminum oxide.----There is now more material there and the copper tube is deformed.
