First buy a genuine merc or quicksliver kit general consensus is they last longer. I just replaced my Gen 2 impeller last fall was in perfect condition after 6 years...worth the $25 extra.View attachment 360230
Does anyone know why this kit has two metal plates and one gasket. When i took mine apart there was two gaskets and just one plate. Just curious on what the use for 2 metal ones is.
Thanks man just wanted to make sure i didnt order a scam kit. Because there was two paper gaskets on it when i disassembled. Thanks for the peace of mind and next impeller change i will go for the quicksilver kit.First buy a genuine merc or quicksliver kit general consensus is they last longer. The metal gasket goes under the steel bottom plate (between plate and lower housing), merc went to this a few years back vs two fiber gaskets .
Gasket goes between plate and impeller housing . Merc technical support stated no sealer was needed just metal 'gasket', but other professionals recommended using perfect seal on the metal gasket...

Yep I second iboats. Just be careful so many people are buying counterfeits partsfrom the rainforest website, and have no clue it's counterfeit. If you want to buy aftermarket, I highly recommend you buy aftermarket from a reputable marine parts internet retailer and not places like Amazon that do not put any serious effort to ensure the items sold meet certain minimum quality control standards and are genuine.
I would trust an iBoats Sierra aftermarket branded kit over what you are showing me.
Buying a fraudulent defective smartphone or tablet sold through a major internet retailer isn't as big of a life safety matter as getting fraudulent marine or automotive brake/fuel parts.
A fake marine starter not USCG rated for an inboard boat use could get someone killed due to fire/explosion hazard.
