water pump repair kit

I ordered a kit for my '95 Johnson 150's water pump and when I received it, it had more to it than I expected. It included the pump housing etc. Is the housing normally replaced or is just the impellor and gaskets usually replaced?<br /><br />By the way, the present pump seems good but I've had the boat for a year and I don't know it's history.<br /><br />Thanks!

Just depends on the condition of the housing and cup. I would say it does not need replacing every change, but, it does depend on condition. As long as you got it, might as well use it...
