water pump discharge

i have a 1985, 75hp merc ob mtr. does it discharge water from the water pump after cvooling the engine from both the port and starboard sides of the motor? i thought it did but while crusing yesterday i only saw one discharge point?

Mike, On merc inline motors the water goes from the waterpump up into the block, up to the top of the block, down across the head and exhaust port inner and outer water jackets. The transfer port side of the motor is uncooled. The cooling water is collected at a single point and emerges from the prop, the gratings above the AV plate, the exhaust relief port and the telltale.
