Never owned a Volvo but found this in the engine bay. Do I not need to put the boat on muffs when starting it out of the water? It won't burn anything up on the outdrive?

Guess I've always owned really outdated boats to idk? Or is that not what I think it is...

Be careful. Volvo used 2 routing setups for this flush port.
On earlier engines, that port was used to flush the engine with the engine stopped since the port was after the impeller.
On later engines, this port is before the impeller, so, it is possible to run the engine with water on that fitting. I think the switch over was in the early 2000. Mine is a 2004 and it is the later setup.

Mines a 2004 as well. I ran it the other day on it no issues here.
