Water in oil after engine compartment flooded

I have an 04 Merc 496 HO MAG that now has water in the oil after having a cooler line come lose and flood .. like really flood the engine compartment. Water was up 8-10”.
After fixing hose issue & getting back on the water.. boat lost power and shut down. Never hot 175*, good oil pressure.. lost power.. think the guardian system kicked in.
So towed back to ramp.. have drained & changed oil, filter & seems to run fine.
question is.. “Any possibilities of internal damages”?

Depends on how much water. Water goes to the bottom so it gets sucked up first. Only way to know without teardown and inspect is watch the oil pressure

+1 to what AD said. Keep an eye on the oil pressure and maybe run a compression test at the end of the season.

Also perhaps likely that some of the delicate software and sensors have been compromised...depending how high the water got ? Just a thought. Maybe get it plugged in and see what errors are there.

Or maybe just disconnect all the electrical multi plugs and let them dry out with electrical cleaner and wd 40 etc. See what happens.

if you have water in oil from only 8-10" of water, you may want to pressure test your block and heads to look for a crack in the block or heads.

water that high would only come to the bottom of the block, and no where near getting in the motor.

now if you completely flooded the bilge and water started pouring in your intake, that is a different story.
