I have a 2010 Q5i and I am getting water in the storage compartment, the one next to the cooler. Has anyone else had this problem? When this happens the bilge is dry but I was told that Tahoe uses the same mold for this and their fish and ski. Not sure were the water is comming in because this is the only place I am getting water. If anyone has any ideas, I am listening.

Are you coming down off plan to fast and letting watter run into the back of your boat? If so come down of plan and goose it a little to stay ahead of the wake.

I get water as soon as the boat hits the water even when still on the trailer. I can't see were it is draining from either because by the time I get pulled away from the ramp it has already drained.

Hmm Did you put the Plug in? Not trying to make fun of you, but if your getting water as soon as you put in and its gone when you take off on plan that would be the first thing I check.

I also wanted to suggest checking your drain plug but didn't want you to feel like I was making fun of you.

A friend of mine with a Q4 SF launched and proceeded to leave the dock. Luckily he noticed the water coming into the boat and made it back to the launch in time to pull the boat out.

Yes, the plug is in. The only compartment that gets water is the one right next to the cooler. It fills about half way and stops. There is NO WATER anywhere else.

Sorry I've got no other answers since I own a Q5 SF and that storage compartment is my livewell.

That would actually make sense for the OP if his boat (for some reason) includes the livewell plumbing... no livewell drainplug, perhaps? With transom way down upon launching, you might get reverse flow up the drain line to this compartment?

Once the boat's level, it would drain back out?

Thats just it, it doesn't drain out until I pull the boat out of the water.

Here is a picture of the drains on the back of my 06 Q6 S/F. The plug on the left is the brass plug for changing the engine oil. The center plug is the regular bilge drain plug. The screened port to the right is the livewell intake and the hole up higher on the right is the livewell drain.

Re: Water in back of boat

I took my 2010 Q5I out yesterday and have the exact same issue. I opened up the compartment next to the big cooler and there was water in it. It does not drain out until I pull the boat out of the water and head home. Have not contacted the dealer yet, figured I would try here first.

I do not have but 2 drains on the back of my boat, one for the plug and the other one appears to be brass, not sure if this is pulling water up into the compartment.

The brass plug is an access plug when taken out you can pull a tube connected to it with a smaller plug at the end of the tube for draining your engine oil for oil changes. The plug to the right is as you say to put in before launching your boat . To the left of the brass plug is another drain hole, on a ski/fi**** will be a little higher for the livewell drain. On the sport it will be lower and smaller abt 1/2 inch hole this is also for drain purposes also.Because of the routing of the plumbing below the motor and depending on the load you are carrying in the boat water will appear in this tank, not to worry , this will not sink the boat. When the boat left the factory a plug was furnished to plug the hole inside the tub.;)

Thanks, I saw the plug that came with it. Thought maybe it was to plug the cooler in back. Makes since now.

Re: Water in back of boat

Hello, I have a similar problem. We recently bought a used 1996 Tahoe196 Deck boat. Where the ice chest sits it fills with water from the drain, the minute we back the boat in, and wont drain until we pull the boat out. No water in other parts of the boat. There are many drain holes on the back of the boat. Would it hurt to start plugging these holes? Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks, EVE

Hmmm...Sounds like one of the drain holes is below the water line and that particular compartment is the first compartment in the series of drain tube connections. I don't know if there's a fix for this other than installing a check valve (back flow preventer).

I would say to put a plug in the compartment that holds the ice chest.

When the boat is out of the water take a garden hose and put water in it. See where it comes out.

Re: Water in back of boat

Thanks for the replies! We went to the lake last weekend and I looked at the holes. There are two on the back left side (one larger than the other) plus the filter to take water to the live well, there is one on the right side inline with one of the holes on the left, all these are below the waterline. On the left side of the boat there are 2 more, these 2 are not below water line. We keep our boat in dry storage on the lake and do not have access to a water hose, or I would have tried that. The drain in the ice chest compartment is a large drain with a strainer over it. it would be almost imposible to stop that up. I am afraid if I just start plugging up the holes I would plug the bilge pump hole or something vital.
My guess is it's the smaller one on the left inline with the one on the right, I will take a jug of water with me the next time and dump it in the ice chest compartment and see where it comes out. I'll let you know. Thanks again!
