Water impeller install on 9.9 ted williams

Need help wont seperate after bolts removed whats holding it does powerhead have to come off.

What kind of shifter is on it. Is it clutch shift or shift rod running down to gearbox.may be as simple as having it in neutral.been a while since I've done it can't remember very good.

Remove inspection cover on the leg and disconnect the shift linkage

Do u have a pic of where the linkage hooks up to the bottom.

After u take inspection plate off there should only be 1 bolt to disconnect the shift shaft.take your model# to searspartsdirect.com. they have parts diagrams that show everything.

Did that it still wont come apart

I went on sears site the diagrams are fuzzy for my model doesnt show it well enough to tell. Only thing left is to unbolt powerplant and see if driveshaft will release that way

May be stuck from exhaust buildup or rust .

Have u taken the nut off that is hidden under the chromed clip on front of bottom housing.it pops off with screw driver

Yes 2 plus disconected shift link even tore down engine took allen bolts out still wont seperate must be welded togther.

That sucks.what kind of force have u put on it hammer and block don't wanna bang anything to hard cast can break easy

Can u get any kind of penetrating oil sprayed at it now with the block loosens.

Im going to spray penetrating oil in top collar try and soak it a couple days try that .

Do u think someone had it apart before.u haven't missed anything it should come apart

you have a frozen drive shaft probably. Take off prop and remove gears and see if it will drop. I sent you a private message about a manual
