This is my very first season with a boat (1978 Sea Ray 260 + Merc 350), and I learned to keep batteries charged in a hard way: got about a feet of water in the boat, after a storm
. Motor oil got mixed with the water, already changed it (it came clean after 5th time). Runs and sounds good now. All this happened about a month ago.
What I recently noticed is a drop in performance. First day I got the boar it did 24 mph, now it takes time to do 17-19mph.
Is there a chance it could be wet flotation foam? How can I check it? I found a brick of some kind of foam in the bilge on the right side only (there is a water tank at the same place on the left side). Is this the only flotation foam I have?
Also there are some kind of "steps", 3 of them, near the motor (check pictures). Are they filled with a foam? How to check what's going on inside?
What else (beside the engine and foam
) could be damaged by the water and/or affect performance?
Thanks!
