Water coming from transom bracket anode?

FINALLY get my Regal (1987 OMC 4.3L Cobra) all tuned up and purring better than ever (not perfect but much better than before-pertronix coil and electric dist conversion helped..but I still think my carb is the problem)

I fire her up one last time before tucking her in for the night...(tomorrow we get wet) and I notice something I don't recall before. There is water coming from the anode in the transom assembly. There is still water exiting through prop but there is a steady flow coming from anode.

1. Is this normal and I just didn't notice it before?
2. If not normal, what is most likely leaking? Exhaust bellows?
3. How critical is it to get this fixed - can I still take it out tomorrow, then fix it during the week? (I hate to lose a beautiful day on the lake for a "non-critical" problem. Obviously, if this leak will result in death and possibly worse - destroyed engine/outdrive then I will have to cancel my trip.

Thanks in advance.

-JMW

I have a 1988 2.3 and water comes out around the anode on it.

Re: Water coming from transom bracket anode?

Thanks for the reply.

I took a look at some exploded drawings and determined that it "probably" was the exhaust bellows..did a ton of reading and it seems that the replacement bellows even have "vent slits" designed into them to allow water to exit while idling...go figure...guess I never noticed it...or mine just started leaking... I am going to replace all my bellows this year just to be certain.

OBTW - took her out today and she ran beautifully.

-JMW

Yeah, the exhaust bellows does have a split in it. I thought the replacement I bought was defective the first time I changed it myself.

This is normal. If you raise your drive up, you should see the "split" in the exhause bellow like marunr said.. this is where the water is coming from, and it appears to be coming from the anode.
