EE, Did you get a look at this while you were at Detroit. I think it was the first time it had been on show.

Dodge. They've always kept the auto industry exciting. That's a helluva' counter to the retro Mustang. What's with the Camaro? Ugh.

They are all crap compared to the Evo 8. Or the 1997 Supra TT......or the last RX-7.....

AMG? I'll take a TRD super charged Toyota anyday. Less expensive, more reliable, better resale value, and it's a Toyota. If Toyota decides to enter the muscle car market, watch out everyone.

Ford mustang? Ford stock is in gutter for a reason.....they slashed 25% of their workforce for a reason. Daimler - Chrysler is already kicking their behinds; as is hyundai, kia, nike, et al. Same with GM. What a bunch of junk. They should all send their new cars and trucks to the recyclers instead of dealerships.

The new challenger is an awesome looking car. Would look even better with a "Shaker" hood scoop

Wow Magster! I can't stop looking at that car.
The Camaro would looks alright if they rounds the front end, flatten out the hood. The new Challenger would be huge success if it is a totally new design and not sharing platform with anything in existence. The Charger is a dud because it is nothing more then a cosmetically altered 300M. I was going to buy a Charger but I walked away after finding out it true identity. I don't think the Shelby GT500 going to win the sales war because it going to be very expensive as always.

Watchout, you might get call a "ricer". The Nissan Skyline would gives these muscle cars a run for their money.

It is not only hollywood it seems that is out of fresh ideas with all of the rehashing and remaking of old movies.
Detroit has been trying to catch the same stupid bug for a while now, most of these retro design cars usually turns out to be disapointments, the Ford Mustang and Dodge Charger fell into that category quite easily, in my opinion the Challenger will most likely do the same.
The car with the right balance of style, raw power, handeling abilities and fuel economy has to be the Chevrolet Corvette hands down.
I suppose that going back in time is probably ok if you have lost something, but it always turns out that you never really missed anything until you were told that you did.

Elmer are you kidding??????? the retro mustang a dissappointment???? I think that is one of better looking Mustangs they have come out with........not as awesome as the fastbacks but its still a nice looking car. I think it was a hit.

The Charger was dissappointing especially to those who had the original........Making a coupe Dodge Magnum and calling it a Charger is dumb. I really like the look of the Charger, but I would like it more if it wasnt called "Charger" My dad had black 1972 Charger and he was incredible dissappointed it its re-release.

Re: Watch out Ford Mustang

Elmer, you're wrong :)
Kiddin' but your opinion is different than most other peoples. I... and many others think these retro muscle cars are the best thing that's happened in the auto industry since fuel injection. The Challenger is an awesome looking car with some very stout numbers (175 mph and 0 - 60 in 4.5) and it has a back seat but it's true, it won't run with the Corvette... but who cares? Dodge has the Viper for that.
Yeah, too bad about the Charger.

Hmmm Jaguar Heather??? The nose looks like it's been remodelled on Concorde, the paintwork is trashy and it does look like someone is just trying to pass off an older model with some new bodywork and those airbags wouldn't save you in a crash with "her indoors" :D :D

AMG is good.
Toyota could be bringing out a new Supra which will breathe fire.
RX7 is ok-ish.
MINI Cooper Works is awesome :D

Originally posted by Laddies:
dogsdad, that was a 440 not a 383, but a good 383 might have got the job done with the right gears, in the the real world anyone knew who the Monsters of the Midway were and who owned the worlds longest drag strip, Woodward Ave. and it tweren't no Fords, It was MOPARS ;) :D :D Bob
The 440 was a respectable monster, especially in six-pack guise. But the 383? Come off it! And I really, really doubt you ever picked on a 428 Cobra Jet Mustang, or a Boss 429 Mustang. There were some pretty hot Chevrolet offerings on the street back in those days too. It's really all pretty irrelevant though, since each car was an individual because hot-rodders are tinkerers and some drivers had or have a better handle on managing their beasts than others.

Chrysler has built some brute-fast cars, but I have never been impressed with what you get for your money in terms of quality. It seems they spend all their research money on engines.

Regardless of the performance of the new Challenger, it will be a sales slug just like all the other Chrysler offerings.

Re: Watch out Ford Mustang

I did not mean to get ya'll so emotionally riled up, i test drove the Mustang, the GT was so-so,i was not impressed with it to say the least, i don't know about the Shelby series, but i suppose that they're very exciting to drive, for all of the obvious reasons.
What i was merely pointing out is, i would without question opt for the Corvette over the Shelby Mustang if i was going to spend that kind of money on a performance automobile.
I have never been a GM fan, and i do not own a Corvette, though i have driven a few, however i must point out that the Corvette also gives as good as if not better gas milage than most of the rather bland and ordinary sedans we all see on the roads every day.

Re: Watch out Ford Mustang

nope....I just found out I will have my job for at least 8 more years(provided I don't screw it up) so I can finally go out and buy something nice without worrying about getting canned 2 years into the payments.

I totalled my truck on halloween and I've been driving a POS 92 cherokee sport that I paid $300 for ever since because I was unsure of my future job status. But now all is well and its time to indulge a little. No longer supporting 2 people helps a lot too. My gf of 4 years moved out shortly before I totalled my truck. I had no idea how much that woman actually spent!

So, yeah, I'm serious.
