did you just strap from side to side over the boat then down to the trailer?

yep, with the tensioner as close to the middle as l could get it,

tried a length of rope first and truckies knot through vacant rod holder holes but the tie down strap did it easier

didnt seem to work with 2 straps. pulled the sides in but didnt get any longer. i ended up just filling the little gap up front. may fiberglass it at some point. but thanks all for input.
