I recall years ago at a Johnson dealer.----Motors would sometimes have worn electrodes and a 0.060" gap or more.----Must have been running OK for a long time before owner decided on the tune-up.

Just replaced the plugs on my 235k truck for the first time since I bought her in 2009. Gap easily more than 0.060 (upper limit of my gauge). Plugs might damn well have been original.

My kicker is also my main motor on the 16' Aluminum with the 1986 Everrude 30 hp2 stroke. The engine Starts instantly Jumps on plane. Uses about 1/2 a gallon a day. I finally bought another red plastic tank so I have a 6 gallon Reserve tank. I screwed up the previous 50 to 1 mixture load. Doubled the oil to 25 to 1. Still ran with shiny spark plug insides.
Getting to be time for me to die. When I do simple mistakes like this.
I picked up a little 2.2 hp Merc two stroke for my Jon boat but ended up using it for my kicker on my 16' Sylvan. Works perfect, capable of 5 plus mph but uses less than a quart of fuel an hour at 2 mph trolling. I steer with my MK electric bow mount with remote control...excellent setup !!
