Warning beep every other second?

Hello all,

I have recently bought a 2005 Larson 228 LXI running a Mercruiser 5.0 MPI with alpha drive.

It has recently started to give me a warning beep every other second on start up. All levels and guages seem to be fine, and it stops when I get going to a cruising speed.

I have read previous threads on Mercruiser warning beeps, but can't seem to find any reference to a beep as frequent as every other second. I would really appreciate if anyone could tell me what this is???

Unfortunately, being a second hand boat I don't have any manuals. I have tried the Mercruiser service handbooks from the forum, but couldn't find anything there???

Any help much appreciated...

Thanks and best regards,

Merc. Horn Warnings Systems manual from 2007/Intermittent continuous beeps: Drive Lube Bottle. Check drive lube bottle for oil and possible malfunction with switch. Maybe a bad drive oil level switch.

Below is a chart with the different types of warning horn sounds for your engine.
To help explain it,
CDS stands for Computer Diagnostic System.
In the 2 beeps per minute section, there are about 25 to 30 things that can cause the alarm. and without the diagnostic computer you would have no way of knowing which one was causing the problem.
