Should you pump primer bulb for warm starts. My 1984 150 evinrude is always hard to start when sitting for a few minutes and still warm.

GN l,

It should not be necessary to reprime. The bilb should remain somewhat firm. If it does not, the bulb may be leaking past its internal check valve, or, the needle valves in the carb (s) are starting to leak. Primer bulbs are cheap.

If the carb. needle valves leak, they will flood the engine. Does it smoke alot when it does start?

Yes when it does start, it smokes alot. Sometimes I think I flood it. I usually try just turning the key, then while in neutral give more throttle. I've sat at dockside restaurants for awhile waiting for boat to start.
